Man's Detours = God's Tours!

Well I couldn't wait till we returned to tell you about an incredible experience that we had travelling.
We were on our way to Cache Creek, through the canyon (obviously) & we had just driven through all the tunnels & just passed Boston Bar (about 2 hours from Hope), when just up ahead on the road were a huge line up of people stopped. People were out of their vehicles walking around, etc... We find out that a vehicle has caught fire, and because it is so hot & dry (32 degrees at 11pm), the fire is spreading & causing rock slides, & when the water comes in the helicopter it will cause more rock slides, so they were closing the highway. So everyone had to re-route to the coquihalla. So off we go back to Hope (another 2 hours). On our way, we see a large accident in the road and we begin to see God's hand of protection over us.

So far this trip, we have depended on Nuvi (our GPS) to lead us in the direction we need to go, cause we don't really know a lot about how to get around. Saying that, you'll understand we didn't know that we only had to go to Merrit to go around & hook up back at Cache Creek. We went all the way to Kamloops! On our way there, we are just overwhelmed with the majesty of God in His creation...

When we were nearing Kamploops, we hit a HUGE lightening storm, with the biggest, neon purple finger lightening I have ever seen!! The whole time, we feel the presence of God!!

Were like, "Ok, God, what are you doing with us tonight?"

We arrive in Kamloops & go to the Quality Inn (we stayed in one in LA, and thought it was a safe bet) but there was no vacancy. By this time it is getting close to 11pm & we are wondering, "This is the night before Canada Day. Are we even going to find a place?" The guy at the desk suggests the Comfort Inn down the road, so we take his advice & try there. We ask if there is vacancy & he says he has 1 room left!!!! We ask the room rate and he tells us $170 per night, cause all he has left is the king size bed with the jacuzzi tub! This is a little out of our price range, but we really don't have a lot of options at this point, so we say yes. We had told him prior to this about our many adventures and re-routing, etc.. He tells us that because it is late & we had gone through so much already, he will give us the room for $99!! YESSS!!!!

God, you are so good!

We get to our room, which is situated in the corner of the hotel. It is a beautiful room! And we are once again baffled, amazed & grateful that God knows what he is doing!

Mark notices on the back of the door, the map of the building for fire escape purposes. He notices that our room (because of being in the corner, I guess) has a title! Guess what it is?

This trip has taught us so much, about fully leaning on Jesus! We may not understand what He is up to, but He doesn't ask us to understand, He asks us to trust! And we will!

The time of our lives!!!!

Well, we are having a great time down here! We've had some good times with Mark's family. And over all, it has been pretty nice. What has made it the time of our lives is not the quality family time though! It has been God teaching us about faith & miracles! He has proven Himself so many times already and will prove Himself more we are sure! We are overwhelmed at the things that have been happening (more details when we return home) & are so grateful & in love with Him!
Many blessings on everyone & we hope all is well at home!!!!

Answers...

1. Name the funniest moment you have had...in great detail!:
This is actually really hard for me to answer, cause it was funny to only me and christy, but back when we were youth we went to Prince George for a youth convention. We were driving somewhere in town and we passed a man walking. As we passed him, he fell, but in the most bizarre way. He kind of tripped & folded in half at the same time. Christy and I were the only ones that saw and we laughed all day about it! And by laugh i mean, crying, snorting, can't catch your breath laughter!!If we talk about it now, its just as funny (and thats almost 10 years ago)

2. Wildest thing you have ever done...

Well, anyone who knows me, knows that I'm wimpy for the most part. But when I was 18, i went to Africa & Malta, and while I was away, I decided I would try things I would never try normally! I went cave swimming (which involves at some point, going under the water cause your head hits the cave ceiling, cause its inches from the water and your hoping that there is an opening along the lines so you don't die! Its hard to explain, but even talking about it makes me feel freaked out! How did I do that!), went to a Turkish Bath House (called a Harem) where people are not clothed at all and bathe all together, went parasailing & cliff jumping! Most of those things terrify me now, but then, I'm not sure what was different! Techincally, I guess those aren't really wild, but they are for me!

p.s. I guess you could throw skinny dipping in there as well!

3. One materialistic item you really really desire.

A home of our own!! I just want a house, partly because thats what we want to buy before we begin the adoption process, so I get a bit anxious! I know God's timing is perfect, but I still get a little antsy!

4. If you had to pick one cooking staple what would it be?
Wow..this is actually a hard question to answer. Cause I automatically want to pick one from every category. But if it could only be one, probably chicken. I have probably made chicken 200 different ways by now. Its fast and easy to cook, and there is endless possibilities
Our fave sauce:
-brown sugar
-crushed or powdered ginger
-ketchup
-soy sauce
load it onto the chicken, cover with foil and cook for 40 minutes...YUMM-O!!

5. What 3 items would you want to have if you were stranded on a desert island?
a. Glamour Item- my eyelash curler (can't live without it...almost an obsession)
b. Safety Item- a knife or machete of some sort to cut trees, evil animals etc...
c. Bible & Blanket (can they tie!?)

6.If you could have any super power what would it be? Would you use it for good or evil? How would it benefit you or man kind?
I would want the ability to see peoples motives. Not their thoughts, just their intentions. I think we get hurt or offended because we don't see peoples real motives. It would give me so much freedom. I would understand why people do things and I could help people do the same & also keep them safe from those who have bad intentions as well!

7. If there was one part on your body that you could put extra weight what would it be?
My wrists..they are pretty boney. And I can afford a little weight there!:)

8. Your most favourite poem in the whole entire world is...??
Good question!! There are so many I love, but my all time fave is:

I Love You, not only for what you are,
But for what I am when I am with you,
Not only for what you have made of yourself,
But for what you are making of me.
I love you for the part of me that you bring out.
I love you for putting your hand into my heaped up heart
And passing over all the foolish, weak things that you can't help,
Plainly seeing there, and for drawing out into the light
All the beautiful belongings that no one else had
Looked quite far enough to find.
I love you because you are helping me
To make of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern, but a temple
To make of the dreams of my life
Not a thought but a reality,
Out of the works of my every day
Not a reproach but a song...
a Love song.

by Roy Croft

This is how I feel about Mark. I still am in awe that God brought me a man like him. He has surpassed every expectation, trumped every list of wantings that I had written and given me a fairy tale!!
9. If you could have anything you ever wanted?? What you you want and what would you do with it??
I know it will sound cheesy, but all I want is a child. I want to be a mother. To experience that would be everything I ever wanted! I would raise it to be like its Daddy, crazy, funny, passionate, loving, a defender of the weak, and a true worshipper!

10.What is your dream guitar??
Well, I just got one for Christmas, and it is like a dream. Its beautiful, and sounds like butter, its so pretty:

Yamaha FG720S

11. Do you have bellybutton lint?

ROAD TRIP!!!!

We leave in 4 more sleeps for our road trip, i & i'm so excited!
Here's a little idea of what we'll be doing:

We'll start off our trip by putting in the coordinates into our new GPS
(it was a gift from Marks Step-Mom..what a blessing!)

We will hopefully make it to Coombs to go to the Old Country Market (with Goats on the Roof)
They have the best ice cream, imported gifts, scarves, jewelry etc...
I need new clothing so we will make a trip to my favorite store on earth!
This will be during our day trip to Victoria!

Also during our trip to Victoria, we will be going to Russell Books,a new & used bookstore that is 2 gigantic floors & so awesome!

Yummy lunch will be eaten at this incredible Irish Pub (which i found out is actually called a gastro pub, which means its not in the same category as irish pub food, but its actually fine cuisine) Now don't i feel special!! LOL!!

And the main reason for our trip!
The marriage of Marks little brother, David

to

The Beautiful Mandi!!

So exciting!

On our way home, AAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!so excited i could puke!! JK!

Also on the agenda, boating on the ocean, suntanning, karaoke at Uncle Brads & Aunty Sues, The Whistle Stop Cafe for super cheap wing nite, & lots of Laughter!

Could be the greatest trip so far!!

I am planning to do a photo diary of our trip when we return, so be ready for that!!

Worship
How lovely is your dwelling place,O LORD Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you
Psalm 84:1-4

Wind

Warrior

Broken & defeated no battle cry sounds

In the ears of this warrior, His faith nowhere found

Where is the soldier that once filled those boots

The armor worn boldly , The Generals salute

He has forgotten the feel of his blade

That moves with his skill to strike unafraid

The man that through attack by his comrades would stand

To take out exact at the Generals command

"Rise up man of valor!" Can you hear his Word

He is calling you to fight! You're still in your armor

So take out that sword thats long been away

And fight for the victory that has already been claimed!!
