The Lion
"He is not a tame lion" we whisper
We try to convince ourselves time and again
Yet we groom him with the finest of combs
We bathe him and wash away the dirt accumulated from his travels
We clip his nails because they are too sharp
We shave his mane and rob him of his majesty
We muzzle him for fear that he may bite
We cage him so that he will not breat out and roar where he wants
As we gaze on the house broken cat, we again repeat to ourselves
"He is not a tame lion"

I love you, not only for what you are , but for what I am when I am with you. I love you, not only for what you've made of yourself, but what you're making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.
I love you for putting your hand into my heaped up heart and looking past all the foolish weak things that you can't help plainly seeing there. And for drawing out into the light the beautiful belongings that no one else had looked quite far enough to find. I love you because you are helping me to make of the lumber of my life,
