Eco, Organic, etc...

I have been informing myself about all things organic, eco-friendly, chemical free. I am far from knowing it all but I have found a few websites that I found very interesting. Whether you are single, married, or a mother (or father) of few or many children, the topic of living organically, eco friendly, or chemical free may have crossed your mind as well.
So, here is a few websites that can help you in your education:

Holistic Moms Network
Organic Pregnancy, Birth, and PostPartum
Organic Products
Organic Gardening
Eco Friendly Products

P.S. And coming soon...an organic farm near you! Thanks Anita! :)

Living *clean* is important...our bodies will thank us!

Here are some practical tips to help you get started:

  • REMOVE toxins:
    • • Avoid processed foods.
    • • Buy organic when possible.
    • • Buy eco-friendly cleaning products.
    • • Remove one or more of the foods that cause food allergies, sensitivities and are mucus-forming, such as dairy, bread, pasta, sugar, white rice and red meat.
    • • Remove the bad bacteria in your gut with plant and herbal antibacterials and use garlic, lemon, olive oil, oregano oil, thyme and cayenne pepper – all powerful natural antimicrobials.
  • RESTORE what is lacking:
    • • Consume nutrient-rich foods (vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes).
    • • Use supplements to boost availability of your specific depletions (the B vitamins are commonly depleted).
    • • Soak up some sun. Fifteen minutes of sun exposure a day will allow you to sustain better levels of vitamin D for bone strength and protection from cancer and depression.
Feel free to post links that you like in your comments and I will add them to my list!

I love it! (Thanks for the shout out ;)
I know, going organic/green or whatever you want to call it can be really hard. Definitely just changing a few things that are important to you can make a huge impact on health.
One thing I'm learning more about and becoming a bit more concerned about are the Xenoestrogens that are pumped into EVERYTHING! It's basically fake or extra estrogen. the same or similar as BPA, but in everything.
Here's a list of Xenoestrogens if anyone is interested..
http://meningioma.wordpress.com/2007/10/20/a-list-of-xenoestrogens/

another thing I recenlty learned about (and are mentioned in the website above) are perabins. If you look on the back of any beauty product you'll see it listed as blahblahblahparabin (usually a long word in front of perabin).
This is another form of estrogen... and imagine how much exposure we and especially our kids get from shampoo,lotions... everything. Its bad enough for girls, but pumping estrogen into our boys??? yikes!
Anyway, obviously an organic lifestyle is something I care a lot about, and am working on changing over as much as possible.
If anyone has any info on products without perabin please share.
I do have some of the "Kiss My Face" stuff and so far really like it.
Holy NOVEL! I'll zip it now ;)

Thanks for sharing Ruth!

89% of all 10,500 ingredients in personal care products have NOT been evaluated for safety!
And one third of all personal care products contain AT LEAST 1 ingredient classified as a possible human carcinogen (causes cancer)
And just in case any of you are interested in organic natural personal care, I am a proud new representative for Onegroup (Organic Natural Enterprise)
Cosmetics, face and body care, household cleaners, probiotics, full line of baby care and much more. All products are 100% natural, chemical free, FOOD GRADE, and there are no inactive ingredients! My website is just about up and running, and I will be doing educational home parties much like other home parties...only organic and informative!
All these products are the first of there kind. Cutting edge. No synthetics whatsoever! Yet they cost no more money than synthetic chemical laden products! And the benifits are HUGE!
