Well, I took a couple days off the net. I was just feeling a desperation to get my life in order. It was kind of funny how as soon as I started Day 1 of what I called 'Project Carpe Diem
(Seize the Day)',
I felt so much better. Please understand, I don't judge anyone who is on the computer, a little or a lot, I just was losing self control personally. My day other than taking care of the kiddies which is 8:30-2:30, would consist of reading blogs, checking facebook 1 million times daily, talking on msn, etc...And somewhere in between, I was trying to fit in my time with God, my care of the home, exercise, studying, meal planning, relationships & ministry. You can see why, because of my lack of control, I was feeling a desperation for freedom.
I began a journal on Day 1, that I am still doing even though I am online again. I will scan my pages and put them online soon. My new guidelines for myself are that I do not even turn on the computer without first doing my devotions & study, clean house, do anything that needs doing like laundry, projects, exercise etc...I found this great website with tons of tips and tools to help you in becoming a great keeper of the home!
I'm also going to begin a home daily routine...exampled here
(obviously i customized it for our life)

That's a great to do list.
I make sure that I don't go on the computer until my kitchen is clean. After dinners is when I make lunches for my boys(hubby included) and do the tidying.
It's interesting to see when people do their menu plannings and such.
I do my meal planning Sundays(with the current flyer)and organize the coupons and my list.
Every pay day(2nd Thursday) I do my visit to Walmart where I do the household shopping(paper towels, tpaper, cleaners etc) and a quick trip to the grocery store.
Saturdays I change the bed linens, Sundays I do the floors, and I should be dusting mid week, but chances are it isn't happening!LOL I enjoy keeping my bathrooms clean so I do that usually Sundays and Wednesdays...
Phewf...
What's missing is my devotional time. I am organized with my household aspects(for the most part)but not so much my time with God.
Thanks for sharing. I should have blogged this instead of taking over your comment section. I always love to compare and see how others are living.
:)
Great list, I'm impressed that you can do all that on Mondays!
I occasionally go on the Fly Lady routine, but never seem to stick to it for more than two weeks at a time. However, there are a couple lessons that stay with me all the time:
1. The Blitz clean -- set a timer for 15 minutes and set your sights on one particular room. (etc)
2. if I'm going to do some serious cleaning, I put on some cross trainers. it's amazing -- it really works.
I think I will be trying again soon!
I've subscribed to the FlyLady for a few years now, but I'm with Gwen that I never seem to stick with it. The thing that impressed me the most was, to make the sink shiny, so that it's always fresh and clean when you get up to make breakfast :)
I'm going to try something similar..when we move my household and responsibilities are going to expand..it will be as if I have 2 kids..A toddler and a big toddler..wait..Kurt makes 3. Great, I have 3 kids to deal with! LOL! Time for me to start a routine..I will go days with my laundry sitting in the floor unfolded..BLAH! Routine makes a happy home I guess. I also need to do something else besides the computer..I'm addicted. I go into withdraw when I can't go online. Don't end up like me!! Haha!
